Don Giovanni attempts to seduce Donna Anna in her bedroom. Her father confronts him. Don Giovanni kills him in a duel, without hesitation. The servant Leporello shows Donna Elvira — another of Giovanni's victims — the famous 'Catalogue': a thousand and three in Spain alone. Elvira had believed she was special.

Don Giovanni seduces, lies, manipulates. He tries to take the peasant girl Zerlina to bed on the very day of her wedding. He constantly escapes those who pursue him. In the cemetery he finds the Commendatore's statue and, out of sheer bravado, invites it to dinner. The statue accepts.

The Commendatore knocks at the door — a statue of ice-cold marble. He seizes Don Giovanni's hand and asks him to repent. Three times he is asked. Three times he says no. The floor opens, flames rise. Don Giovanni is swallowed by hell.
